There certainly are a lot of pundits saying not to. The same pundits that defend the burning of the American Flag, or that say we need a separation between church and state. It's OK to burn effigies of George Bush at rallies. It's OK to trod upon, rip, and burn the closest thing America has to a holy symbol, the flag. But a nutty fundie with a flock of nearly 50 whole people in Florida threatens to burn a book and suddenly everyone is all aghast. What a load of horseshit.
In the interest of preserving the integrity and consistency of these pundits, I fully support burning the holy book of the 'religion of peace'.
I don't buy that it endangers our troops. They're already in mortal danger fighting in a pair of foreign wars that have lasted far too long. Our former and current president are more dangerous to our troops than burning a book that calls for -among other things- beheading foes, conversion by the sword, and death to infidels. By not bringing the troops home the administration (and the former) has put them in Real danger by the minute, not speculative danger.
The book that inspires fundamental, mostly illiterate, muslims in the oppression of women, gang rapings by village elders, stoning, beheading, cutting off hands, suicide bombing, hijacking planes and flying them into things, not to mention the abomination that is sharia law.
Go ahead nutty FL preacher. Burn the koran, the crazy fundie muslims already do all the things that everyone is claiming this burning will inspire... The regular Muslims, like regular Christians and regular Americans, will be as unaffected by this as we to the flag burning and Christian oppression that seems to be a common staple today.
